GERUNDS AND INFINITIVES

Put in the verbs in brackets in the Gerund or the to-infinitive.

1) I can't imagine Peter (go) by bike.
2) He agreed (buy) a new car.
3) The question is easy (answer).
4) The man asked me how (get) to the airport.
5) I look forward to (see) you at the weekend.
6) Are you thinking of (visit) London?
7) We decided (run) through the forest.
8) The teacher expected Sarah (study) hard.
9) She doesn't mind (work) the night shift.
10) I learned (ride) the bike at the age of 5.

INFINITIVES



Infinitives

To form an infinitive, use:
TO + THE BASE FORM OF THE VERB
TO read
TO write

The infinitives are used after certain verbs.

a) Some verbs are followed directly by an infinitive like: learn, decide, agree, etc.
      Lourdes ‘students learned TO WRITE.


b) Some verbs are followed by an object + an infinitive, like: urge, persuade, etc.  
       Lourdes urged her students TO WRITE about their life.


c) Some verbs are followed by an infinitive or an object + an infinitive like: want, ask, need, etc.
Lourdes wanted them TO WRITE their personal life.



· USE THE INFINITIVE AFTER CERTAIN ADJECTIVES LIKE.

Free, able, hard, etc.
Lourdes ´students were free TO WRITE about whatever they wanted.

· USE THE INFINITIVE AFTER CERTAIN NOUNS LIKE:

Ability, freedom, etc.
Lourdes’ students had the freedom to write about whatever they wanted.


GERUNDS

To form a gerund, we must use the base form of the verb + ING.

read + ing = reading
write + ing = writing

We can use the gerunds in a 3 principal ways:

  1. Use the gerund as the SUBJECT of a sentence:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      WRITING is very important to Carlos Cuauhtémoc Sánchez                                                                             
  2.  Use the gerund as the OBJECT  of a sentence after certain verbs like: enjoy, acknowledge, recall, etc.                                                                                                                                                                                     Carlos Cuauhtémoc Sánchez enjoys WRITING.                                                                                             
  3.  Use the gerund after a preposition like: of, in, for, about.                                                                                                                                                                                                Carlos Cuauhtémoc Sánchez is interested in WRITING

IMPORTANCE GRAMMAR

why grammar is necessary?


It´s necessary becuase with this subject we can learn some rules and structures to comunicate us in a better way, also because with grammar we are refering to syntax and morphology and they permit us that we can write well so we can speak better and other people can understand us. Grammar is the basic subject to develop and improve our english.

OTHER WAY TO LEARN ENGLISH IN A EASY WAY

 
SANDWICHES AND SODAS

Another way to learn english is evoing to speak in spanish. We apply it with your students; the students who speak in spanish must give their classmates a sandwich with a soda, also the student who is late to the classes, the owner of the cellphones that ring or also may be the student is facebooking. With this activity the students will try to speak jsut in english, also they fun because ther will be watchful of their classmates to cash the fast food.

LEARNING VOCABULARY II

Today, we learnt vocabulary with a new method, it can help you when you are going to teach a new topic to your students. This method is trought by games, like it;
FIRST: We do two groups
SECOND: Each group do a big list of many things
THIRD: One representant of each group says a word and the rest of them say the types or may be a classification. Example

CARS MARKS: toyota, mazda, volks wagen, ford, chevrolet
FLOWERS: amaryllis, anemone, aster, carnation, dahlia.

FINALLY: if the student doesn´t answer it, the other group can do it and win more po
